The Grand Staircase-Escalante is a series of sedimentary rock layers stepping up gradually from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon. Vermillion Cliffs is within this area. It’s a very colorful area with exotic landscape formations such as Coyote Buttes and White Pocket. Just outside the protected areas, nearer to Page AZ are other fascinating areas.
