The Algarve includes the beautiful southern coast with marvelous beaches and caves carved by the ocean from the soft limestone. Views from the cliffs and from the water level (sometimes requiring a boat) are quite dramatic. The towns are interesting as well with lots of whitewashed structures and traditional decorative colors. I’m stretching the Algarve region a bit by including Sines which is part of the Alentejo region, but as a seaside town it’s historic area has a similar feel to locations in the Algarve.
