I’m happy to be returning to Portugal. It’s scenic, historic, and gastronomic treasure. And the people couldn’t be more friendly. My experiences were wonderful in every way. This time I’m excited to share some of what makes it so special. We’ll begin in Lisbon and enjoy the historic neighborhoods of the Alfama, Baixa and Bairro Alto. A historic and cultural tour of the Alfama has also been arranged. And we’ll spend a day in Sintra enjoying the palaces.

Porto and the area nearby are wonderful. There are numerous churches and cathedrals, a busy riverfront on two sides, and bridges that span the river. From Porto we’ll also explore the surrounding countryside, fishing villages to the south and the Douro Valley to the east where the port wine vineyards are beautifully arrayed on the hillsides.

From Porto we’ll head to the south stopping in Evora to enjoy that historic city and the nearby Alentejo region.

We’ll finish on the southern beaches of the Algarve where the rocky formations are quite stunning. Here we’ll also get some unique perspectives as we take an open boat trip into several small caves along the southern coast.

The tour is designed for 8-9 people, so it will be a very small group. We’ll travel comfortably by bus, but will also be walking a lot.

The cost of the workshop is (will be updated) based on single accomodations.  The cost includes: hotels, breakfasts, bus transportation, a historical tour in Lisbon, and a boat cruise to the caves near Lagos. A list of hotels will be provided to those who have registered.  All the hotels are excellent and in superb locations. Everything is walkable.

Additional costs include our international flights, travel insurance, meals, gratuities, historic site admissions, things of a personal nature, as well as any individual transportation other than that with the group.
